Dr. Janel Kittredge is a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician. She received her medical school training in 2006 from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie PA. Following completion of her residency training in 2009 at St Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo Ohio, she and her husband relocated to Southern Vermont where they practice and reside with their three young daughters.
Dr. Kittredge continues to practice emergency medicine at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington VT. In addition, she is the Medical Director of the Carlos Otis Stratton Mountain Clinic situated at the base of Stratton Mountain.
In conjunction with her formal training in emergency medicine, Dr. Kittredge has been able to fulfill her special interest in skincare and dermatology by establishing the unique practice of aesthetic medicine and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures. She is a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
“I have a variety of medical interests which is why emergency medicine is such a great fit for me. In addition to recognizing and treating acute life threatening conditions, I have always had interest in the health of the integumentary (skin, hair, nails) system. As the largest organ system of the body, it has the ever important role as a barrier, the first line of defense to the external environment. Its main function is protection, absorption of nutrients and to regulate homeostasis (the body’s internal balancing systems). With continued education and specialized training, I have been able to develop a practice to improve the health and quality of the skin and to correct years of age related stressors on the skin.”
As a Board Certified Physician, Dr. Kittredge has been trained to treat patients based on evidence-based medicine. This also applies to the practice of Sterling Aesthetics. From the extensive laser therapy options including Fraxel and Cutera brand lasers, to the Obagi Medical skin care line, there is clinical evidence to support the safety and efficacy of these modalities and products.
The variety of treatment options that are supported by Dr. Kittredge have been chosen based on their ability to transform the skins quality and appearance at a cellular level and to slow the aging process of the skin.
“In this day and age, there is much more education on overall health and well being. People are living healthier and longer lives. We spend a great deal of time educating ourselves and trying to make healthy choices. Unfortunately before we were aware of the long term consequences on the skin from some our lifestyle choices ie. too much unprotected UVA/UVB exposure, smoking, overconsumption of alcohol, sleep deprivation etc. the damage was already done. Even though it takes years to show the deleterious effect on the skin, it’s as if we wake up one morning and suddenly we see the years of accumulated damage in the form of sagging skin, fine and deep wrinkles, brown spots and pre-cancerous lesions. Even though we do our best to modify and improve our lifestyle choices, the damage is already done. In many cases, the condition of our skin is not necessarily a direct reflection on our current healthy lifestyle choices or how we feel on the inside.”
Fortunately, with todays technology, Sterling Aesthetics can safely and effectively reverse years of this accumulated damage and will help to prevent and slow the skins aging process.
“My goal is to help my client look and feel great at any age by improving the health and appearance of their skin. The aging process is normal and natural. Anti-aging is physiologically impossible. Sterling Aesthetics promotes healthy skin and slows the age related changes of the skin. The fantastic side effect is a younger, rested, healthier appearance!”
